Master bedroom and dressing room
Manoir Les Gaillardoux's Master suite comprises a large bedroom with double bed, boudoir and dressing room. The en-suite bathroom has a double wash basin, large shower and jacuzzi, and the separate en-suite WC has a further washbasin. The tall windows give views to the east, south and north.
Master bedroom and boudoir
The further five bedrooms each have an en-suite shower room (WC, double wash basin, shower) with plenty of storage space for personal toiletry. We supply a hair-dryer in each bedroom suite. All en-suite bathrooms/shower rooms have windows and good ventilation, together with an electric towel rail for our guests' convenience.
The beds can be made up as single or double beds to suit guests’ needs. A cot is available on request.
Drawing room
The two living rooms, the Grand salon (drawing room) and the Petit salon, are spacious and bright, and there is comfortable seating for at least twelve guests in the drawing room. In spite of this, the drawing room provides the ideal atmosphere for a cosy winter get-together or a smaller intimate party. Further living space is provided by the billiard room, where there is a separate TV and DVD player for the children.
Dining room
The dining room has a long refectory-style walnut table seating 12, enabling the whole group to eat together all year round. The dining room opens onto the south-facing terrace for outside summer meals and barbecues under the vast open skies. On cooler evenings, a dinner by the open fire under the beams of the dining room creates a festive end to a happy day.
Kitchen
The fully equipped Gourmet kitchen includes two dishwashers, an American fridge freezer/ice dispenser, two ovens, an electric hob with four large induction rings, two gas rings, an electric deep fryer, microwave, electric toaster, kettle, coffee maker, blender/slicer and semi professional cooking utensils ... and manuals to help with initial use. There is an ample supply of crockery and glassware.
Laundry room
The laundry room has two Miele washing machines and a tumble dryer. The separate shower room with washbasin and separate WC/cloakroom on the ground floor is easily accessible from the swimming pool and garden.
Veranda
The Manoir offers entertainment for all the family: LCD wide screen satellite TV with DVD player, quality music centre, billiard room with children’s TV and further DVD. For contact with home, there is ASDL / wireless broadband internet access (in our experience, mobile phones and blackberries work perfectly on the property), and combined fax/answering machine/copier/telephone.
Heated swimming pool
The large, partly-walled heated swimming pool faces south and, because of this, can be enjoyed from late spring to October. Suitable for children, with steps and a gentle slope leading to diving depth, the pool has a sound ringing security alarm but is not fenced. The salt water pool has 12 loungers with cushions and some sunshades for our guests' comfort, all arranged on a stone paved terrace. The garden offers areas of shade and sunshine for play or relaxation, including boules and ample garden and pool furniture.
Terrace
Stone-built Manoir Les Gaillardoux sits in its own 1.25 hectare (3 acre) park and orchard, offering space and privacy and featuring fine examples of local architecture, including a large coach house, barn and round 'pigeonnier'. The spacious terrace is equipped for outdoor eating in comfort, and boasts an Australian “outdoor kitchen” barbecue and views of the park and beyond - perfect for a candlelit dinner under the stars. The columned coach house provides parking for up to 5 cars, further parking is available in the grounds with easy unloading access for luggage/shopping.
Generously equipped for up to 12 guests seeking style and comfort.

Top-end holiday homes in France range from the grandiose French chateaux to the
more homely and comfortable French
manor houses. French Manoir Les Gaillardoux is a fine example of the latter,
combining old stones and antiques of a 17th and 18th century French chateau with 21st century equipment and comfort.
It offers space and privacy for up to 12 discriminating guests in 6 double suites,
each with own attached toilet and large shower room. The swimming pool is heated,
and the south facing terrace is just outside the dining room and the kitchen for
outside meals and barbecues under the vast open skies.
The manor is situated in the ancient region of Aquitaine, which is still characterised
by its medieval villages and historical associations with the Cathars. It lies on
high ground between the historic market town of Cahors with its medieval bridge
and cathedral, 20 minutes away, and the very fashionable city of Toulouse, with
the nearest large international airport – 50 minutes away. It is in the centre of
the Midi Pyrenees holiday region, south of the Dordogne and east of the modern-time
downsized Aquitaine region, and with easy access to the Languedoc region and Pyrenees
further south. Bergerac, with its small international airport, is about 110 km away,
Bordeaux about two and a half hours drive and Carcassonne about 2 hours drive… and
Lalbenque, the traditional capital of the Black Truffle, only 8 minutes away.
Those who have experienced a Dordogne holiday or a Languedoc holiday will find this
region has similar attractions, rolling hills, open vistas, and spectacular river
valleys, but is less crowded. The Lot is one of the least populated areas of France,
though when you venture out, you will discover that it is far from sleepy; within
five kilometres of the manor there is an aerodrome with tarmac runway for visitors
with private aircraft, and a flying and parachute school. For feet-on-the-ground
holidays there are opportunities for a range of magical eating experiences that
can be enjoyed in all seasons, and for lovers of wine there are several estates
open to visitors 365 days a year for tasting the variety of full bodied reds of
the Cahors vineyards mostly situated to the south of the magnificent river Lot.
Chateaux France ? If you are interested in French chateaux, 13th
century chateau de Mercues, 30 minutes drive, and 14th century Chateau de Cieurac,
15 minutes drive from Manoir Les Gaillardoux, are well worth visiting. Mercues,
previously the summer home and ancient dwelling of the Counts and Bishops of Cahors,
is now a Chateau-Relais with a gastronomic restaurant and superb views over the
Lot valley. Cieurac is a bijou of a chateau with a long tormented history and very
fine architectural features. It has been sensitively restored over the past 20 years
and is now privately owned and open to visitors during the summer. Our guests are
especially welcome in both chateaux, as they are in a number of gastronomic restaurants
and chateaux vineyards.
Once you find your way around, which is a pleasure in itself as there is a combination
of efficient motorways and attractive rural drives between villages, you will discover
the region’s vibrant history and traditions of food, cooking, and rural living,
often wondrous and always fascinating. Welcome to French manor Les Gaillardoux in Midi-Pyrenees, for
a traditional, picturesque, gastronomic and thoroughly French, Aquitaine holiday
in South West France!
